Bristol’s Old City and Historic Harbourside

For 6 centuries Bristol was the 2nd city and port in England and played a big part in the development of the colonies, which eventually became an Empire and more latterly a Commonwealth. This guided walk takes in some of the historic harbour and what remains of the medieval city which John Cabot left in 1497 when he sailed westwards across the Atlantic to find Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
Now a vibrant modern city with an attractive cafe culture Bristol still cherishes its rich heritage and links with personalities from the past such as Cabot, John Wesley, William Penn (sylvania), and Cary Grant (known as ‘Archibald Leach’ by Bristolians).
