Galway Ecclesiastical Art Tour
This full day tour is especially for enthusiasts of Church Art and decoration spanning three eras – Early Christian, later Medieval and Celtic Revival with particular reference to modern Churches and older monastic sites.
You will visit the monastic site of Kilmacduagh in south Galway then to Loughrea and St Brendan’s Cathedral and to Portumna and the Dominican Priory.
You will continue in the afternoon to Clonfert Cathedral and then to the Augustinian Abbey of Clontuskert.
The final stop is the Catholic church of St Michael’s in Ballinasloe.
Attractions
The early Christian sites are Kilmacduagh and Clonfert Cathedral.
The later medieval sites are Portumna Dominican Priory and Clontuskert Augustinian Abbey
The Celtic revival sites are St Brendan’s Cathedral, Loughrea and St Michael’s Church in Ballinasloe.
