A half-day tour is perfect for those on a cruise that can spend a short amount of time on a shore excursion.
This tour will take you to Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the MacLeod of MacLeod, chief of the Clan MacLeod. Probably as a fortified site from the earliest times, the castle was first built in the 13th century and developed piecemeal over the centuries. In the 19th century, the entire castle was re-modeled in a mock-medieval style.
It’s built on an elevated rock overlooking an inlet on the eastern shore of Loch Dunvegan, a sea loch.
On our return, we will take a different road to catch a glimpse of the famous Cuillin Mountains.
