Limerick City and Country Full Day Tour

Limerick, an ancient city on the banks of the mighty River Shannon, is quirky, vibrant and utterly individual.
From its beautiful Georgian architecture and grand museums to its rugby-obsessed locals, it will win you over with its unique charm.
Ireland’s first City of Culture, Limerick’s rich cultural life can be seen in world-renowned museums, such as the Hunt Museum, as well as the Limerick City Gallery of Art, housed in the historic Carnegie Building.
You will visit King John’s Castle, a 13th-century castle located on King’s Island in Limerick, Ireland, next to the River Shannon. Although the site dates back to 922 when the Vikings lived on the Island, the castle itself was built on the orders of King John in 1200. The remains of a Viking settlement were uncovered during archaeological excavations at the site in 1900.
Then we will stop at Saint Mary’s Cathedral, a cathedral of the Church of Ireland in Limerick, which is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is in the ecclesiastical province of Dublin. Previously the cathedral of the Diocese of Limerick, Ardfert and Aghadoe, it is now the central cathedral in the United Dioceses of Limerick and Killaloe.
We will stop at the Treaty Stone, that ended the Williamite War in Ireland between the Jacobites and the supporters of William of Orange and concluded the Siege of Limerick; and at the Hunt Museum, which holds a personal collection donated by the Hunt family.
The Custom House is situated on Rutland Street on the banks of the River Shannon at its confluence with the Abbey River. Among the museum’s collection are works by notable artists and designers such as Pablo Picasso, Jack B. Yeats, and Sybil Connolly as well as distinctive historical items such as the O’Dea Mitre and Crozier.
We will also visit Adare, a village in County Limerick, Ireland, located south-west of the city of Limerick. Renowned as one of Ireland’s prettiest towns, Adare is designated as a heritage town by the Irish government.
You will see Bruff: a town in east County Limerick, in the midwest of Ireland, located on the old Limerick–Cork road. The town lies on the Morning Star river, with two bridges in the town itself. The horseshoe lake of Lough Gur is nearby. A life-sized bronze statue of the 35th US President John F Kennedy, which cost approximately €40,000, has been unveiled at his ancestral home in Bruff. The statue, designed by Clare sculptor Sean Connolly, and funded by Limerick City and County Council, was unveiled by Mairead McGuinness, Vice President of the European Parliament.
