Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle & Culloden Battlefield Shore Excursion
Departing from Invergordon, we will travel along the Great Glen, heading west to the most famous loch in the world located in Scotland highlands: Loch Ness. Here you will have the opportunity to cruise the loch and visit the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Built in the 13th century, the Castle played an important role in the control of a key route through the Scottish Highlands, changed hands several times during the Wars of Independence, witnessed violent clan rivalry and withstood Jacobite uprisings.
After a short drive away is the city of Inverness, where you will have some time to explore the city long-established center of the Highlands and have lunch at a local pub or restaurant.
We will later visit the famous Culloden Battlefield, which has been restored as close as possible to how it was when the battle took place in April 1746. There is a fantastic state of the art visitors center, where you will have time to take in over 250 years of history and artifacts since the Battle.
