Lyon’s Renaissance District Short Tour
The old town of Lyon has been saved by passionate people against the demolition workers in the 1960s. Since then, the quarter has been renovated, so that the visitors are charmed by the striking atmosphere of these cobbled streets. The houses recall the way of life at the end of the Middle Ages, with the influences of Italy. In the 16th century, Lyon was the new economic capital of the French Kingdom. Humanism in Lyon was strong, but this rises had also setbacks. Since then, the inhabitant is very proud of their houses and the typical “Traboules”. This is the quarter you can’t miss in France!
This walking tour starts in front of the metro station “Vieux-Lyon”, next to the cathedral Saint John, and follow in the streets of the quarter. You will go through the dwellings and in the courtyards, and finish next to the Place du Change. You will stop at some interesting workshops.
