Pisa & Cinque Terre Day Trip
Our adventure in Tuscany will be heading over from Florence to the Piazza of Miracles in the city center of Pisa, a city rich in maritime history and traditions.
Although Pisa is known worldwide for its leaning tower (the bell tower of the city’s cathedral), the city of over 90,834 residents (around 200,000 with the metropolitan area) contains more than 20 other historic churches, several medieval palaces and various bridges across the River Arno.
Among these, the Romanesque and Gothic churches stand out, in squares and palazzi that enhance the neighborhoods marked by lungarni (riverside streets) and age-old roads.
Then you will head to La Spezia station, where we will take a boat or a train and see Cinque Terre. A string of 5 fishing villages perched high on the Italian Riviera in the region Liguria: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore; which until recently were linked only by mule tracks and accessible only by rail or water.
The breathtaking views of harbors far below the wild but hospitable coastline along with the medieval fortresses and plentiful vines and vibrant colors make this a memorable day.
We will return to La Spezia to drive back to Florence.
